About!

Hello there! I am Anastasia Goutou and I am 20 years old. I’m studying Communication, Media and Culture at Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens, Greece. This blog is about some academic papers I did during the first two years of courses.

I created it because I’m proud of the work I put on these essays and the professors graded them accordingly well. At the same time, I’m learning how to use the WordPress tool for academic and business purposes and how to organise a blog.

My blog is referring to students who may be looking for inspiration about their own projects or wondering how to write an academic sample morphologically (for example documentation, sources, etc). Professors, teachers or people who like to read scientific reports in their free time on social media might also find them interesting.

More specifically, the article Fake News & Democracy was written two years ago in my first year as a university student. During the course Introduction to journalism, we were asked to pick a topic out of twelve suggested and analyse our ideas based on scientific books or other sources in nearly 2.000 words. It was challenging because back then we had never written more than 800- 900 words for school. It took me weeks to complete it but it was worth it. The topic I chose was ”Fake News and Democracy: define the term “fake news”, talk about how they relate to the legacy and the new media, find a political example and explain why democracy is threatened by them.”

The paper Διαδίκτυο & memes was written in my second year of uni for the lesson Writing Academic Texts that was just about that: learning how to write a scientific essay. The general theme was ”Humour and Media” and the words needed to be nearly 1.500. Again, everything we wrote had to have a scientific background that verified our opinion. As a millennial, I chose the internet as the media, and memes as the expression of humour since I do laugh with them daily. I covered the internet’s role in humour and memes’ significant involvement.

As you can see, I have both a serious article and a light-hearted one. The first step on both of them was to find the scientific sources I could use to gain information and support my thesis. Then, I read them carefully and paired the theories with my own ideas. I really hope you enjoy them! You may also leave a comment and tell me your thoughts!

Thank you!
